What Is a Facelift?
A facelift can help turn back the clock of the natural aging process by reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and saggy skin. During the procedure, Dr. Greenberg will remove excess fat, reposition underlying tissues, and tighten and trim excess skin with discreet incisions made in your hairline.
Video: Achieve a Younger Appearance Through Facial Cosmetic Surgery
Through facial cosmetic surgery, Dr. Greenberg can help patients reduce some of the loose skin on their lower face and eyelids, while maintaining a beautiful, natural look. With the removal of extra skin through the surgical procedure, patients can achieve a rested, younger appearance in a short period of time. Dr. Greenberg may combine a facial surgery with various techniques and treatments such as injectables and laser treatments.
What Are the Benefits of a Facelift?
The primary benefit of a facelift is a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. By removing saggy and excess skin, you can enjoy a beautifully contoured jawline, smoother skin, and more toned facial features. Once you have fully recovered, you will likely enjoy improved self-confidence and a better quality of life.

Are There Scars that Result from a Facelift?
Dr. Greenberg is a board-certified surgeon experienced in making small and discreet incisions. The type of facelift will depend on the location of your incisions. In most cases, incisions can be concealed within your hairline, inside your mouth, or within the natural folds of your skin.
How Do I Prepare for My Procedure?
During your consultation, Dr. Greenberg will provide you with a list of pre-surgical instructions to follow to help you prepare for the procedure. This will include medications to avoid, diet recommendations, and what to use on your face beforehand. If you smoke, you will also be asked to stop smoking for at least two weeks before and after the procedure, as smoking can hinder healthy blood flow. Following these instructions will ensure you achieve a successful outcome.
Is There Much Pain with a Facelift?
It is not uncommon to experience some swelling, soreness, and bruising for the first one to two weeks after the procedure. However, wearing your compression garment, taking your medications as prescribed, resting with your head elevated, and applying cool compresses will help minimize discomfort and reduce swelling.
Will I Need Someone to Help Me Out at Home after the Facelift Procedure?
You will need to have someone available to drive you to and from the procedure and stay with you for the first 24 to 48 hours, as they can be the most difficult. Even having someone available for the first week to assist with cooking and other tasks will allow you to obtain as much rest as possible.
Am I a Candidate for a Facelift?
The best candidates for a facelift include patients struggling with excess skin, saggy jowls, hollow cheeks, and wrinkles on the mid and lower sections of their face. You will benefit the most from this procedure if you are in good overall health, with sufficient bone structure, good skin elasticity, and realistic expectations.
Are There Different Kinds of Facelifts?
Dr. Greenberg provides three different types of facelifts for our patients.
- Full Facelift: This procedure addresses the mid to lower sections of your face, including your jawline and neck.
- Mid Facelift: This endoscopic procedure addresses issues around your cheeks, eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Mini Facelift: This procedure focuses on the lower section of your face and jawline.
When Can I Get Back to My Regular Activities?
Most patients can return to work and normal activity 10 to 14 days after surgery. The length of time will vary depending on the type of facelift procedure performed and how fast you heal. Full physical activity can generally resume three to four weeks after the procedure. The key to a successful recovery is resting as much as possible and wearing your compression garments as directed.
How Long Will My Facelift Results Last?
Although a facelift cannot permanently prevent aging, it can help you achieve a younger-looking appearance that will last you ten years or longer. Following a healthy lifestyle and skincare regimen, as well as minimizing stress and avoiding smoking, excessive drinking, and sun exposure can all help you maintain long-lasting results.
