Procedure
Cellulite occurs when bands of connective tissue beneath your skin harden while surrounding fat cells increase in size and push upward, resulting in the dreaded “cottage cheese” effect. Cellulaze™ targets the bands of connective tissue to dramatically reduce the indentations that appear on the skin’s surface.
The procedure begins with the administration of a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Next, two very tiny incisions are made, each about the size of the tip of an ink pen. The Cellulaze™ laser fibers are threaded through a cannula (a very small tube) that is inserted through the incision site. The laser releases the bands of connective tissue and levels the larger bumps of fat.
Meanwhile, the thermal energy produced by the laser stimulates collagen production (collagen is a group of natural proteins that give skin its youthful elasticity). During this process, some of the fat cells will liquefy, and they will be gently pressed out from beneath the skin. In total, the Cellulaze™ procedure typically takes between one and one-and-a-half hours to complete.
Recovery
Cellulaze™ is a procedure that involves very little downtime. You may experience some bruising and general discomfort immediately after the procedure. A tiny amount of fluid could leak from the incisions; Dr. Greenberg may recommend wearing a compression garment.
After a day or two, you will be able to go back to your normal day-to-day routine of work and other activities. Strenuous exercise can usually resume after a week or two. Over the next three to twelve months, you will witness the signs of cellulite fade, and the treatment area will become increasingly smooth and supple.
Results
Ninety-three percent of patients who have undergone Cellulaze™ have reported being satisfied with their results. Further studies have shown that after a year, Cellulaze™ patients achieve 25 percent thicker skin and 29 percent more skin elasticity.

Living with cellulite can be incredibly frustrating. Diet and exercise cannot reduce cellulite. Liposuction and non-invasive procedures like SculpSure® can reshape your body but can’t get rid of cellulite. Fortunately, Cellulaze™ is helping many patients to achieve dramatic, long-lasting cellulite reduction.

FAQ
How Many Treatments Are Required To Achieve The Desired Results?
Only one Cellulaze treatment is necessary to achieve the desired results. You’ll see some immediate results, but the final results won’t be apparent for three to six months. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but unless there are very large areas that need to be treated, one procedure will provide excellent results.
How Does Cellulaze Work?
The Cellulaze treatment is performed by using a very small cannula (or tube about the size of the tip of a pen) inserted under the skin. A unique SideLight™ laser fiber inside the tube delivers energy directly under the skin. The precise SideLight™ laser energy increases the depth and quality of your skin, while simultaneously releasing the fibrous bands that pull down on your skin, to minimize the orange peel look associated with cellulite. The laser is also used to diminish the lumpy pockets of fat that protrude through the fibrous bands under your skin.
Can Anyone Have This Treatment?
The best candidates for Cellulaze are women who are not significantly overweight but have cellulite on their thighs. A consultation with Dr. Greenberg can provide you with the best information.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Cellulaze is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, therefore after the treatment, there will be some swelling and a little soreness. However, since Cellulaze is a minimally invasive laser procedure, incision sites are very small and there is little bleeding during the procedure. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities in a day or two. Patients may have some fluid leak out of the incision sites following the procedure.
I Have Tried Everything To Get Rid Of Cellulite, How Do I Know Cellulaze Really Works?
Cellulaze is backed by two years of clinical research and cleared for use in the United States. Clinical data has proven Cellulaze treatments can increase the thickness of the skin by 25% and increase the skin’s elasticity by 29%: significant claims which haven’t been made by many other anti-cellulite treatments*. Thicker and more elastic skin can help flatten and smooth the skin’s surface, therefore, improving the appearance of cellulite. In addition, 100% of patients surveyed were satisfied or very satisfied with their results one year after their procedure, and all would recommend the Cellulaze treatment to a friend.
