Dessert for Breakfast? Thats My Kind Of Breakfast!!

While I always am a big advocate of eating healthy and I try to stay away from sweets I must admit I was happy when I saw an article on Cosmopolitan.com that gave reasons why you should eat dessert for breakfast. Yes, this even included cookies and chocolate! They say it works because our metabolism is most active in the morning. Eating dessert at night after dinner isnt ideal because the metabolism is slowing down.

If you’re looking to firm up, skipping dessert is probably on your must-do list along with regularly hitting the gym. But new research found the sweet stuff can actually help you get fit.

According to a study from Tel Aviv University, eating dessert as part of a 600-calorie breakfast that includes proteins and carbs can help people lose weight-and keep it off. And yup, we’re totally talking about ending breakfast with a piece of chocolate.

Over the course of a 32-week study, scientists found that people who had dessert-cookies, cake, or chocolate-with their breakfast lost an average of 40 pounds more than people who avoided sweetsand they didn’t gain the weight back.

Here’s why they say it works: In the a.m., your body’s metabolism is the most active. At this time, we’re better able to burn off the calories during the day as opposed to, say, having some ice cream after dinner when your metabolism is slowing down to prepare for sleep.

Scientists also said that it’s not good to cut out sweets entirely when you want to firm up because it can create a psychological addiction to them in the long run and cause you to crave them 24/7.

Obviously, you wouldn’t want to make it a habit to have a massive piece of cake every morning, but ending breakfast with a few Hershey’s kisses or a cup of hot chocolate could have the same effect.
