The Chin Implant Procedure
Dr. Greenberg will first perform a thorough evaluation during an initial consultation to ensure you are a good candidate for this procedure. He will also discuss the procedure and address any concerns you may have. To achieve a natural look, Dr. Greenberg will match the size and type of implant to your facial structure. Facial implants can also be customized to achieve the best result.
The surgery itself takes only about 30 minutes. Once you have received the appropriate anesthesia, Dr. Greenberg will make an incision below the chin or inside the mouth below the lower lip. Dr. Greenberg will then insert the implant through the incision, carefully positioning it for proper balance. Once he is satisfied with the placement, he will securely suture the implant in place, close the incision, and apply a dressing.

Expectations
You should expect to experience swelling and bruising in your face and neck that should dissipate within a couple of weeks. If the surgery was done through your mouth, you may also have some drainage from your mouth during the first couple of days.
Any discomfort can be managed with prescribed medications and icing the area according to the doctor’s directions. In order to achieve a smooth recovery without any complications, it’s imperative to follow your post-surgical instructions carefully.
For internal incisions made inside the mouth, sutures will dissolve in about seven days and leave no visible scarring. Sutures below the chin will be removed at a later follow-up appointment in about 10 days. Because of Dr. Greenberg’s expertise, scarring will be minimal. Once swelling and bruising have decreased, you can begin to see your final results.
