Achieve Your Cosmetic Goals with a Minimally Invasive Mini Facelift
If you want to smooth wrinkles, tighten sagging muscles, and achieve a more youthful appearance, but are not ready for a more invasive surgery, a mini facelift might be the right choice for you. Long Island cosmetic surgeon Dr. Stephen T. Greenberg uses sophisticated techniques to perform a mini facelift so that you can benefit from a reduced recovery time, increased affordability, and excellent results. Mini facelifts are also ideal for younger patients (usually in their 30s or 40s) who are not ready for a full facelift. Contact our office today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Greenberg.
The Procedure: From Consultation to Recovery
Undergoing a mini facelift involves many of the same steps as traditional facelift, but uses smaller incisions and often, endoscopic technology, which consists of small, camera-controlled surgical tools.
First, you will meet with the doctor and explain your concerns and aesthetic goals. Mini facelifts create subtler changes than full facelift, which can be a good option for patients who want to reverse the first signs of aging or make a very particular, small improvement to their faces.
On the day of your mini facelift, our staff will administer both local and general anesthesia to ensure your safety and comfort. Once you are sedated, Dr. Greenberg will create small incisions near your ear and temple, or sometimes within the upper lip or lower eyelid, to begin tightening your underlying muscle, removing any excess skin or fat, and enhancing the contours of your face.
After your surgery, you will wear bandages for several days. Dr. Greenberg will remove your stitches within one to two weeks, and you should be able to return to your regular activities within several weeks. Mini facelifts often have a shortened recovery time, and some people even refer to them as “weekend facelifts.” Patients can usually go home the same day as their appointment, and will require the assistance of a friend or family member.
Determining Your Candidacy
Patients with mild to moderate sagging or wrinkles in the face are usually ideal candidates for a mini facelift. These patients are typically between 30 and 50 years old. If you are mostly concerned with a lack of definition in the lower area of your face or neck, a necklift may be more appropriate for you. Candidates must be in good health, not smoke, and able to go under general anesthesia.
Benefits of a Mini Facelift
Compared to a traditional facelift, the mini facelift procedure is less invasive and complex, and is usually less expensive. A mini facelift can smooth wrinkles, tighten underlying muscles, remove excess fat or skin, and enhance the contours of your face, though not as dramatically as a traditional facelift. This effective procedure can make patients look younger and feel more confident in their appearance.
Risks and Considerations
Like any surgery, mini facelift involves some risk of complications. Possible adverse effects include bleeding beneath the skin, scarring, infection, and numbness up to six months after surgery. You can reduce your risk of complications by choosing a highly trained surgeon who is committed to your health and safety. Contact our office if you experience severe tenderness or pain after your surgery, your stitches come out before your removal appointment, or your temperature climbs above 100 degrees.
